CATS Start New Trail Project – 1 Nov 2018 Willow Bend NA Loveland CO With all the weather lately one would think it is time to hang up the tools. Not so for CATS as we are still whacking trail and this time on a new trail project here in Loveland at the newly purchased natural area – Willow Bend. I believe it is 98 acres with a pond. We have been tasked to cut in a hiking trail at six foot width for almost .4 mile. The new project required some weed-whacking and thanks to the COL we were able to borrow a machine for and almost whack the entire trail build area. We started early on this project with me going out there at noon to cut the grass down making it easier for CATS crews to get in there and cut in a nice dirt trail. Bob V came out and lent a hand in the cutting of the grass – all evening in fact and three tanks of gas later. CATS Finish Project in Record   Time   - 25 Oct 2018    2- 5 pm Outstanding work from our members last Thursday as we wrapped up our project there at Lake Boedecker in Loveland. We were asked to arrange crusher fines in 3 ft. width to form a trail much like the work we did at Boise Ave earlier this year. The main difference was the crush was organized into small piles along the linear trail and distribution was easy with a McLeod. This trail is a lead in trail from the parking lot of the Boedecker Reservoir State Wildlife Area https://cpw.state.co.us/learn/Maps/BoedeckerReservoirSWA_geo.pdf There was a new barbed wire fence to deal with but our members successfully navigated that obstacle and went on to level these piles in record time. Amazingly eight members worked 430’ of trail in 1.5 hours or so. We were so done that going back to the parking lot we picked up six more members that did not even pick up a tool this night. I...

CATS Almost Finish Everything at Lake Boedecker – 18 Oct 2018 Well the trail cutting in is all done, but we have some crusher fines to move around next week. We had a new couple join us for some fun on the trail – the Randol’s that live nearby and helped at the Mariana Butte loop crusher fines distribution on National Trails Day this year. Ben and Brandon made it out for the last whack on this trail and glad to have them. It was a slow start as Scott and I and the Randol’s began to work at a slow pace. Dean came on the scene and then others filtered in and the work went faster. Imagine that? Many hands and tools moving helps make the trail come faster. I must admit it is a pretty piece of trail up in the berm and elevated from the wetland. The weather was spectacular and we got to see an owl fly in and perch for a while.
